The bits she won't say...
...but Gareth will.
When I first met Charlotte, it was supposed to be a 30-minute phone call.
As a headteacher of a PRU, I thought I understood trauma. I’d worked in it, led through it and supported children living in it. But that conversation (which lasted hours) completely shifted my thinking. Charlotte spoke about trauma not just as theory, but as lived, relational practice. It was fascinating, practical and deeply hopeful. Within minutes, I knew I had to bring her in to speak to the team. We’ve stayed in touch ever since, and I’m incredibly proud that we now work together.
What sets Charlotte apart is the way she combines academic study, research and lived experience. She has supported hundreds of schools to embed relational practice, respond to critical incidents and strengthen provision for individual learners. Her work is rigorous and evidence-informed but always grounded in humanity.
Charlotte delivers in a way that is rare and unforgettable. You will laugh until you cry and, at times, cry until you laugh. Her story is real (a rollercoaster - I don’t think she’ll mind me calling it that)and the way she shares it takes you on a journey through relational care that is both challenging and deeply beautiful. If you think you understand trauma, I can promise you this: within minutes of speaking to Charlotte, your perspective will expand.
Beyond her professional work, Charlotte is a proud mum of three, a devoted wife and a serving school governor. Her commitment to families and school communities is not just professional, it is personal. Everything she does is rooted in a desire to help people build approaches grounded in clarity, safety and hope.
I feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside Charlotte. Her integrity, wisdom and heart shape everything we do at Navigate and the impact she has on those she works with is nothing short of transformative.
